I’m delighted to announce The Secret Mother is on the 2016 shortlist for the prestigious International Rubery Book Award, the longest established book award based in the UK for indie writers, self published authors and books published by independent presses.

The three high profile judges for the 2016 awards are: MAN Booker Shortlisted author, Clare Morrall, Poet and Stand winner Jeff Phelps, and author, dramatist and lecturer, William Gallagher.

Judges praised The Secret Mother, saying:

The themes are topical, the details give a rare insight into unfamiliar history, and the author portrays her characters with sensitivity and tenderness.
